Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the metabolic syndrome knowledge levels of physical education and sports school students. The research group included 171 (106 male, 65 female) volunteer students studying at Dicle University School of Physical Education and Sports. Scale was preferred as the data collection tool. The data collection tool used in the research consists of two parts. In the first part, "Personal Information Form" was used and in the second part, "Metabolic Syndrome Knowledge and Awareness Scale (MSBFS)" was used to determine the students' metabolic awareness knowledge levels. According to the research results, it was observed that there was no significant difference between gender, sport type, sportive level, age, income level and department of education and metabolic syndrome awareness knowledge levels (p>0.05). It was determined that there was a significant difference between the research group's years of doing sports and their metabolic syndrome awareness knowledge levels (p<0.05). It was observed that the average score of metabolic syndrome awareness knowledge levels was higher for female athletes than male athletes, for amateur athletes compared to professional athletes, and for students studying in sports management compared to students studying in coaching education and physical education and sports teaching. In conclusion; It was observed that the metabolic syndrome awareness and knowledge levels of the students in the research group were at a medium level.
