Abstract

As we age, signs of aging appear in many areas of the human body. Aging is the final phase of the aging process. During this time, degenerations occur in the musculoskeletal system. These degenerations can lead to limitations in activities of daily living for older people. Exercise is one of the most important ways for older people to cope with this situation. Thanks to aerobic (resistance) exercises, flexibility exercises, balance exercises and proprioception exercises, it is possible for the elderly to prevent and reverse degeneration. Literature studies have found that exercise programs and physical activities specifically for the elderly have a positive effect on many chronic diseases. However, before these programs are implemented, they should be created with the individual diseases and characteristics of older people in mind. Collaboration with health professionals at the beginning of physical activity programs and physical activities in the elderly increases their ability to adapt to exercise. With improved adaptation, the benefits of physical activity and exercise programs for the elderly will be maximized.
